how big of a difference is 159 from 154?

with everything else the same. or lets say the lower scorer has had disadvantages in life.

I'm pretty sure that's a jump of about 20% of total test takers. That's a pretty big difference.

Half tuition to the same school. From a simple direct economic perspective, you could easily view each point as worth about $5,000. This is why I tell people to quit their jobs if necessary to raise their score. There are going to be few times for most of us where 3 months of hard studying will immediately save you up to 120k. Of course, that is just at the same school. Imaginations run wild when thinking about the differences in schools accessible based on a higher score.

Unless those disadvantages are related to URM status, they are unlikely to matter much at all.
