Top Law Schools

Pardon my boredom.

Given the ability to either:

(1) Know the exact date each and every one of your law school decisions would arrive by mail.

(2) Pick any of the schools to which you applied and know the decision immediately.

Which would you choose?

These are the ridiculous things I think about when I can do neither of these things, and schools aren't sending me letters.

I'd pick the second option. I have a very definite first choice (LSP put me at about 45%, but I'm a splitter), but I sheepishly didn't apply ED because of concerns about money. I am kicking myself for that now, and I realize I would gladly pay whatever they asked. 2 students with slightly worse index scores got in ED.

I make bad decisions.

id take the former. Im probably gonna ride a lot of waitlists, so if i knew i didnt have to make any active decisions for a while then i could spend the time traveling or somethin

See, I'm in the exact opposite boat. People ask me where my top choice is, and I laugh, because I have like 5 and it just depends on where I manage to get accepted and given money (if anywhere). I think I'd wan't to know when each letter was coming, that way between now and march or so I have like 10 miniature holidays (or terrible, terrible days...but I'm being optimistic).

I'd pick the first. What if you get to know the decision of your dream school immediately and its a rejection? my immediate next question would be, "well i wonder when I'll find out from my number 2 choice..."

And if I knew all the dates I would be able to stop looking at all my status checkers 3 times a day.

I'd take the second and apply to a school where I believed myself to have a reasonable shot but wasn't a definite admit, in hopes that I'd get in and could save myself the effort of applying to a multitude of less compelling safeties, or realizing that perhaps I'd need to reorient my list in terms of reach to safety ratio. Either way, it'd be more helpful in providing me with clues on how the rest of my cycle might/should go. To say nothing of the fact that if I know on date X to expect a decision from school y, that day and the many before it, I'd be too fixated on the pending result to focus on much else.

First option. Cause though I have a first choice, there's a good chance I won't get in.

Definitely the first- then I can stop obsessively checking the status checkers
