Post December LSAT Fee Waivers

It's almost 2010 and becoming pretty late in the application game. So here's the question: do schools normally extend merit-based fee waivers to potential applicants after the December LSAT? If so, around what time - first week or two of January? Are they as generous as they are in the fall?

I asked for some fee waivers yesterday and WUSTL got back to me within the day with one. But I do want to know about potentials. I haven't gotten any yet and my score went up 12 points.

I just asked UVA and they gave me one.

I haven't heard back from a few others (Cornell, Michigan).

Yesterday I sent e-mails to:

William and Mary
Boston College
Boston University
Notre Dame
Washington University
Northwestern
Minnesota
Colorado
Lewis and Clark
University of Washington

Wash U. and Colorado sent me waivers via e-mail this morning. Minnesota replied saying they use CRS and that I should hear from the shortly if i have signed up for it. Given that you don't hear anything from CRS if you don't get a waiver, this leads me to believe they will give me one, but I don't know.

Making follow up phone calls to schools I have not yet heard back from today.

just requested one from UVA. I know a lot of schools won't give them at all, and many schools are on break until Jan 4.

I got BU and UVA even with my crappy LSAT. I hear they give 'em out like candy.

Others either said no or said that they use CRS for fee waivers.

Would it be appropriate to go back to the ones that denied and say "see, my LSAT went up by X points, how about now?"?

I just sent an email to their general admissions address requesting one. I included a screenshot my senior year's financial aid as well as my LSAC number. I didn't bother checking to see which schools wouldn't accept requests, just sent it to every one that I applied to. I sent the email to "Law School" and bcc'd everyone in so they wouldn't know what I was up do =)

So, definitely LSAC number. I don't think financial aid matters to most of them - if you didn't get an LSAC waiver they won't give you one. Include your LSAT score if you think it'll help.

How do you go about asking for fee waivers? Did you send an email? What info do you include (lsac number, etc.)?

Thanks!
I ask if I would be able to qualify their merit-based fee waiver and give them my numbers.

I sing them Christmas Carols and wait for their hearts to swell three sizes.

Otherwise, same as those above did.

Did the Christmas carols work at Cardozo?

Sauer Grapes wrote:Thanks for both of the replies. I'll definitely have to go with the merit based request as I didn't even bother trying for an LSAC fee waiver since I've been working for five years.
I applied for the LSAC fee waiver for shits and giggles. Got an instant NO!

Results not in, but I expect my method to be highly efficacious at Notre Dame.

I would be very happy attending WUSTL since I'm a midwest native.
and here I thought I got it fast because they were secretly observing me and liked my LORs =(

wtf, Lonagan. They just emailed me a form and told me to fax it in to get a fee waiver. What's your LSAT? Maybe I can email her back and tell her my score and ask if I can just have one for not-financial reasons.

edit: nevermind. I forum stalked. I'm going to request for score.

Does this sound like I'm too lazy to bother? I hope not...
"Thanks Helen. Do you offer a merit method of attaining a fee waiver for individuals with appropriate LSAT scores? I'd like to avoid the financial research, if possible. I received a 170 on this December's administration."

I really want to bother to get a fee waiver for UC schools but I'm just too lazy to fill out that form for every single one.

All I've gotten from a school so far is an automated we're closed for the holidays message.
