Top Law Schools

Hi all-
I am starting to draft my personal statement and the story I feel most compelled to tell could come across as controversial to some.
Some context- my parents are traditional conservative pastors and when I was in an interracial relationship there was a strong negative response from my community with some pretty blatant prejudice. I ended up resisting that and want to talk about how that experience shaped my values and perspectives in the work I do now working against discriminations in the criminal justice system.
Thoughts? Advice?

It sounds like it would be controversial within your community, but I think you'd have a hard time finding a law school admissions department filled with people who are still opposed to interracial relationships.

I would definitely write on that topic. A personal statement is just that: personal. Common sense. Get as personal as you possibly can, no matter what topic it's on. As long as you don't use profanity or bad-mouthing, I can't see what topic would be deemed inappropriate.
