The prof I wanted to mention in my PS got arrested...

I just found this morning...I wanted to include his name in my PS but he was arrested and put into prison for sexual relations with a teenage girl.
Should I remove his name and just mention a professor or should I just remove all of the parts about his class?

I don't think it really matters but you can totally just give the professor a pseudonym on your PS. I highly doubt that a. admissions will recognize the professor if you put his/her name, b. care, c. hold it against you at all if they do recognize it.

Was he recently arrested? If so, how did he wind up in prison so quickly? Is he in prison or jail? If he wasn't recently arrested and is currently serving a prison sentence then it wouldn't make much sense to separately mention the arrest because if he is currently serving a prison sentence, then it goes without saying that at some point he was arrested.

Seems like he was arrested 3 years ago, after I took his class, but the news doesn't say how long he will be in the prison...
He might be still in the prison or might not.
I don't know...
This is why I could not find his name on the department, I just realized...
I wondered when I tried to find the name of his book but did not see his name on the website...

I feel like this is definitely a question for the Spivey thread.

Is his inclusion somehow crucial to your PS?

And a snappy dresser.
If the mention of the professor adds value to the story, just take the name out. indeed, it would almost be weird to include the name of "Professor James Jamerson" (or whatever) anyway. The people who gave you advice here have it spot on.

Thank you for your answer.
The reason I wanted to include his name is because my advisor told me to be specific ex. Prof's name, class, project, clinic etc...
So I don't have to mention exact titles each time right?
Thank you

Yes on some things. Not on names.

A PS is supposed to give law schools information about who you are as a person. There are lots of specific details that will help do that - for example, if a class or clinic is important enough to talk about in your PS, knowing what the class was about will probably help the law school understand what you're interested in and/or what you care about. A specific prof's name is almost never going to advance that goal, so it'll look out of place.

Got it...thanks.
I just removed his name and just mentioned his class briefly...
Kind of shocked, seeing the familiar figure on webnews and titled "arrrested", "put into prison" etc...
