TNR 12, default margin 1 inch on each side? double space?

I did size 11, and changed the top and bottom margins to 0.5 (kept the left and right margins at 1)

What font are you using? Times New Roman is quite big. I'd recommend Garamond size 11.5 as the ideal option; I used it too. I'd warn you away from fiddling around with the page margins; a seasoned admissions rep will instantly spot something is off and you don't want that.

Don't fuck with the margins or the font. TNR size 12 with 1 inch margins. Be better writers.

Agreed. You might get away with a certain amount of fiddling with the font size/typeface/margins in writing your PS, but you'd be a lot better off just learning to write within a page limit.

Because I like the sound of my own typing, I'll repeat the above: use normal margins and a normal font and meet the page limit by editing what you wrote.

You'll soon be faced with assignments—or God forbid, actual work—with a word limit, not a page limit. You can't do anything to stay within a word limit other than write fewer words. Practice it now. Heck, PM it to any of us. I guarantee we could all spot ways to be more concise.

Nah, trying to stick with the rules, that's why Im asking. Don't want to mess it up.

I don't think Garamond saves much space, but it is a bit easier to read imo than TNR. Don't fuck with the margins, 1 inch all around.

Every school I've looked at except UCLA indicates 11pt minimum font.

Generally speaking you aren't suppose to go below 11pt font and never ever mess with the margins.
