Top Law Schools

For my PS I am considering writing about how I am half American and half German, and how each of my grandfathers fought on different sides in ww2 shaped my understanding of the world. Of course this means writing about how one fought for the US and the other was conscripted to fight for Nazi Germany. Would this be too controversial?

I think the risk is that it will really be about your grandfathers and not so much you.

OP: Nony already told you the biggest risk. You need to make sure that the PS focuses on your relation to this information, not on your grandfathers' stories.

Yeah, OP, just agreeing with others above about the topic. It sounds really interesting, but with the usual page limit I don't know how much you would be able to talk about this and yourself. I would try to find a story from your life that comes from a personal experience (as in you being present) or personal memories.

lol you're clearly back-tracking here from your initial post questioning OP how old he/she was during WW2.

That comment was tongue in cheek, it was basically me doubting the truth that them fighting formed his worldview, bc he was nowhere near being alive at the time

I just ain't see how that can form your worldview any different than works history in high school. I think that you just misunderstood my original intent with that line

I see how it could inform one's worldview, fwiw. It would be different than a typical high school world history class because, if your high school was anything like mine, literally no one was actively engaged in class! If you think sitting around trying not to fall asleep while going over ww2 for 7-10 days every other year could have the same impact on someone as two of the most important people in their life literally on opposite sides of a great war like that, then I don't know what to tell you.

It probably shouldn't be OPs ps, though.
