How bad would a solitary shoplifting incident look on a law school app?
It occurred almost 5 years ago (April 2011) and essentially I was arrested for forgetting to pay for an energy drink I swapped out for my meal plan drink. Ate dinner, tried to walk out and was stopped by campus PD. Tried to pay and explain my mistake but the university cop didn't care. Never said a single word to me and rather than taking me to the campus police station, he took me to the county one and booked me.
Can't seem to find any records of this incident but I'm almost certain it was dismissed or expunged. Trying to call the court/perform a background on myself as we speak but so far no luck. Any advice or thoughts on how to proceed?
I know I was fingerprinted, given a mugshot and bailed out, however, I believe all I had to do was pay a fine and it was done. For the record, this was my only criminal offense and my record has been clean since. Thanks to anyone who helps this anxious applicant!
