Should I talk about overcoming drug addiction in my personal statement? Out of high school I went to Syracuse University where I got a veeeery low gpa (1.5) and was put on academic probation multiple times. I've been sober since I left Syracuse (4.5 years ago) and I went to a community college for three years then transferred to UCLA last year. My GPA since I got sober is a 3.98. I got a 165 on the LSAT this october but retook in december and i'm expecting high 160s/low 170s. I know I need to disclose generally in order to explain my GPA at Syracuse but would it be okay to use my sobriety and overcoming addiction as the topic of my personal statement?

dont do it man unless you are going to be addressing a lot of character and fitness issues to where you lose nothing by revealing your status as a drug addict. pm me if you want.

Certainly not as a PS, and avoid an addendum on the topic unless you have C+F issues you need to disclose anyway.
