Root Tilden Kern Essay?

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Oct 25, 2015 10:02 am

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply for the RTK at NYU. My PS addresses my commitment to a particular field of public service really thoroughly-- discussing my interest in criminal justice. My question-- is it really necessary to write the additional essay as well? I'm not sure what I could say in it that wouldn't just be repetitive of my PS, but I'm worried not writing the additional essay will make the ad-comm think I'm not willing tp put in the extra effort or something. Any advice?

Any chance you have to write a supplemental essay, take it (assuming you are a good writer).

I was struggling with this too. I decided to make my PS more personal, such as what circumstance in my life have led to my interest in a particular area of law. Meanwhile using my RTK essay to give a more concrete example of my future career goals in that area. I see the RTK essay as an opportunity to stand out from the majority of 0Ls who have no clue what they intend to do with a JD.
