I'm a quaker and I'm wondering if I should write a diversity statement. In most ways I'm a normal umc white kid, but I come from a quaker family, believe in many quaker values and I do believe that it has shaped my views and attitudes to various things. Is it worth it to write a diversity statement? I don't want it to overshadow my app.

I can't comment on whether you should devote an entire statement to your religion and its influence.

I can say that I have a friend who wove, with a very deft hand, tidbits of his similarly uncommon religious upbringing into the narrative arc of his personal statement, as well as another facet of his application, and did extremely well with acceptances.
