I read "The Ivey Guide to Law School Admissions" by Anna Ivey, and she mentioned the difference between a Statement of Intent and a Personal Statement, and that my Personal Statement should not be about my intention of going to law school. To how much an extent is this true? Does this just mean I shouldn't have my entire essay about it or should I not even mention it? I also read Montauk's "How To Get Into The Top Law Schools," which I found are more helpful, but I am just wondering the merits of Ivey's point.

Insofar as she was an adcom at UChi and made decisions at a very good school based on personal statements, I'd say it's valid. Every adcom at every school will be different, though, and your best bet is to get a lot of opinions before drafting what you feel most comfortable with.
