Criminal parent...

My question is likely answered elsewhere but is buried under people asking about their own criminal records.
Dad was a convicted criminal (pedophile). Mention or not?
Specifically, do any of the top 14 explicitly favor people with both academic success and criminal parents? Is this a category for affirmative action? Or am I just going to raise hackles and put a bad taste in people's mouths?

So if my dad becomes a drug kingpin I can get an admissions boost? brb
Only mention it in your PS if it had a considerable effect on your upbringing/you overcame challenges to help you achieve your goals and become super awesome law school applicant.

Depending on the circumstances and your writing ability, it might have a place in your personal statement. Don't even think about trying to leverage it into an AA/URM-type boost, though. On the whole, I'd probably not even mention it unless it truly had a huge impact on who your are and your motivation to go to law school.
