Poem as Diversity Statement

Hi TLSers-
So, if done properly (and by that I mean well-written, concise, and mostly expository), do you think an original poem could work as a diversity statement? For example, if your family's socioeconomic background was/is working class, do you think an adcom would enjoy reading an original poem that clearly illustrates your situation without actually
saying what the situation was, like most DS would?
I guess I am really just wondering if this is too much of a risk to take, or if an adcom might find it a welcomed change from the typical DS.
Thanks guys.

Part of what you want to express in your application is a clear, logical, concise argument in high quality writing regardless of content. I have never heard of a poem that is clear, logical, and concise. Maybe Pablo Neruda, but that is beyond the point. I would stick to prose.

do you even William Carlos Williams?
But yeah, potential for failure, not really potential for greater success than conventional statement

As Science Major with a couple of Latin American literature credits, just to fill out a Spanish requirement I hear-by retract my statement about poetry.

But I am googleing William Carlos Williams to become more informed.
