I am considering including a diversity statement in my application that highlights my religious conversion at age 20 for personal reasons that later transitioned to benefit me academically. Would it be helpful? Or shoot me in the foot?

Also, I checked just now and see that within my ethnicity around the world, 1.2% are practicing the religion I converted to.

I would suggest writing it and posting it on here. Your post is to vague to know if it will make a difference.
