I'm confused - did you actually write a PS about the difficulty you had in picking classes?

I stopped reading after the first paragraph - if you can even call it that.

A simple "no" would have done fine but.. hope your egos are satisfied.

No one meant to offend - at least I didn't. Don't take it personally when you come to the forums and ask for people opinion if the opinion is not what you wanted.

Seriously. The PS wasn't bad just because of the topic, but also because it was so confusingly written that I was never sure exactly what the topic was. So it was hard, as a reader, to even judge whether this was a trivial topic or not - it SEEMED trivial, but then, I wonder as a reader, why would someone choose such a thing as a their topic? So then I try to look for more, can't find it, and I'm doubly put off.

Let me put it this way: if you were one of my writing students and had met with me in office hours to get feedback on this PS, I would've said the exact same thing.

Back to the drawing board op.

The posters in the PS forum genuinely care and are very helpful, but you gotta accept criticism.

When I wrote my first PS attempt, I showed it to my favorite English professor, and he basically gave me the English professor version of "Get the fuck out of here. This is the essay of a child. Grow up." TBH I barely even remember what I wrote about -- probably blocked it out. But what he said affected me and I wound up scrapping it and writing a much better essay on a different topic.

What did you end up writing about? What was your process? I'm blank and have been for weeks. Thanks

Why do you want to go to law school/be a lawyer?
Why do you think you'd be effective?
Why should adcomms accept you into their school?

I wound up writing about my interest in intellectual property and how it stemmed from my experiences in the arts and my pure academic curiosity about the subject. I don't remember much more specific than that. People said it was a good essay though, including the english prof. I think it worked because I really was, at the time, genuinely interested in the subject, so it didn't come off like I was forcing something.
