Should you mention if a school is your top choice?

Hi there, I'm in love with NYU and want to know how to write my final paragraph on my personal statement. They are my top choice, should I mention that? I love the city, I love the diverse range of clinics offered, they have more that are relevant to my interests than anyone else and I think it's the best city for me. I feel like I'm writing a love letter....

Show dont tell. If NYU is your top choice and you are tailoring your ps specifically for them, they will be able to tell that they are your top choice. IMO.

I agree that it is better to show rather than tell, but it might work out if your whole personal statement really does revolve around NYU. Maybe it is the clinics and you've always been (convincingly) a hands-on sort of person. Just be concrete and make convincing supporting statements. Stating that NYU is your first choice in that situation is less jarring and random than if you had something that did not involve NYU until the last paragraph.

The best way to tell them that they're your first choice is to get a 174 on the LSAT

Yeah, but then they might feel like a cheap date while you're pining for Harvard

But they'll eventually relent if you continue showing them interest.
