And I'm sorry I cheated... I won't cheat again
On May 18, 2010, I violated ______ University's Code of Academic Integrity by cheating on the final exam for _______ (ABC 2050) class. A few hours before the exam, I experienced extremely severe anxiety and a panic attack. Then, I made one of the worst decisions of my college career: to cheat on my exam.
I was caught by my professor and immediately pleaded guilty. At the time, I was already attending counseling sessions for my academic anxiety, and my professor was understanding of my circumstances. Fortunately, I was given a grade punishment for the exam only.
On December 10, 2010, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have subsequently received treatment from the university health services, and have been able to control my anxiety under pressure, academic or non-academic. The incident mentioned above was my first and only violation of the Code, and I remained in good standing until graduation.
