Top Law Schools

A book by Marlo Thomas.

This book is recommended in Ivey's guide to law school admission and I've read a few of the stories in it and they are fascinating.

I was wondering if it would be alright to something like of those stories in that book for my personal statement. Do you guys think the type of topics written in that book is relevant to what we need to write on our PS?

All of the samples (well ,most of them) I read on this forum are rather written with heavy vocabulary with complicated sentences (convoluted in some) and that kind of worries me because I really can't write complex narrative pieces. (I can write organized dry pieces but that's not what adcoms are looking for right?)

What do you guys think?

I have read at least a hundred personal statements (sad, I know) and they vary as far as which devices each writer uses in order to convey their particular story. Personally, I prefer statements that are more simplistic and straight forward as far as structure or vocabulary is concerned. I find those statements to be more compelling and memorable. Don't let the statements found here make you think that you have to abandon your particular writing style.
