Not sure if this is the right forum but seeing how this is kind of for my PS, I thought I'd ask it here. Is IP/Patent work considered transactions? I know there is IP litigation, but would the non-litigation stuff be considered transactional work?

As a person who just spent countless hours with an attorney through a patent process, I would say yes. FWIW I referenced this to answer your question. Just my 0.02, though.

The term "transactional" describes the lawyer's work when they are assisting a client to achieve a business goal by performing such tasks as:

offering advice on how to structure and implement a transaction,
drafting documents,
conducting "due diligence" activities,
making regulatory contacts and filings, and
advising their client throughout the life of a project

Yes. I do licensing and work with many IP attorneys directly.
