Let me know what you think. I'm really worried about this. Thanks. Also, I don't know how much help I'll be, but I can take a look at your PS's as well.

I would like to take this opportunity to explain my response in the Character and Fitness section of the application. In Summer 2011, I hosted a friend in my on-campus apartment. My friend had been struggling with academics and family problems, and I agreed to counsel him. During one of these days, while I was in class, my friend was found inside the building unescorted. As his nominal host, I was written up and referred to the residential faculty member for further review.

At the subsequent hearing, I took full responsibility for my guest’s actions. Despite my having been away, I was aware of the Conduct Code, and should have taken steps to educate my guest about the Code as well. My Outcome Letter reads as follows: “At the judicial hearing, we established that you had a guest staying with you but the day of the incident you did not realize that the guest was in the building. We talked about the guest policy.” I was found Responsible for the Residential Conduct Code and warned; due to the circumstances of the alleged violations and clean record prior to that point, no further action was taken.

I regret having allowed the situation to unfold that summer. Since that time, I have strived to maintain a clean record. Using the incident as a wake-up call, I proactively spoke with the Apartment Assistants of my building regarding the Conduct Code and solicited advice on how to avoid further issues. I also resolved to focus on improving myself academically; although my work was partially undone by extenuating circumstances the following semester (details on my other Addendum), I achieved the highest grades of my university career soon after. I value my future professional career, and will not let a lapse in judgment interfere again. Thank you for your consideration.
Seems like a bit of an overkill for just saying that your guest was in the building when you weren't. I'm more shocked that you had a hearing for something like that in the first place. I would cut down the last bit about how you learned from your mistakes, etc. As far as I can tell, you didn't really make a mistake, and I'm sure admissions committees will feel the same.

I agree. The way this is written makes it sound like something major happened between the guest and the guard , or some additional major rule violation happened. This should be a few sentences max- guest was there when you weren't; rule violation; sorry, take responsibility; no further action taken; peace out.

The AA tended to follow the code to the letter. I'm as annoyed as the rest of you sound about it... Thanks for the comments!
