Top Law Schools

For those who've written them with successful outcomes, what were the general criteria you followed? Length? Topics to avoid? etc.

I know the overall goal is to show your interest and that you will 100% attend if admitted, but other than that i'm not really sure if there's any other standards/norms I should be adhering to as well.
