Narrowed down to a few topics for my PS. Which is best?

I've narrowed down the topic of my PS to two options and wanted your guys feedback.

1. Raised by a single mother, she got screwed over in the divorce. Because she got stuck with all of my fathers bills, we eventually had our car repossed and house foreclosed on (we are doing much better now though). This experience really got me interested in the law because I'd like to help good people caught in shit situations, like my mother was.

2. I graduated HS with a 1.88 GPA. Im now a junior in college and I have about a 3.6 GPA. I really started to love learning in college. So I guess this would be about how I started to take my studies more seriously, and now I really do enjoy learning. I took a community college course in HS and received an F. Because the F would be included in the LSAC transcript, I figured this would be a good way of explaining the F, since I dont know if a single F is worth writing an addendum on (is it?).

Which topic would be better for a PS?

Explain the F in an addendum. NOT the PS. You don't want anything real negative about yourself in the PS. Unless you feel this F changed your life and you wouldn't be who you were today without it or something, leave it out. And even then, leave it out.

tcr. Write on the first one. The rest of your application doesn't explain any of that so use the PS to tell that story. You're transcripts and everything tell the grade story so stay away from it. Plus it will just sound like excuses for a bad grade.
