Which do you think would be more compelling?
1. A story about how my parents dropped out of high school and I am the first person in my extended family to go to college
or
2. A story about an obstacle I had in my life; a rich narrative about how I applied myself, persevered, and overcame in obstacle.

Doesn't matter. Spend more time worrying about LSAT.

The first option isn't really your story, much of it sounds like your parents' story. I'd go with the second.

Credited. A big mistake is that when people try to weave inspirations into their PS, they almost always end up talking more about the person who inspired them instead of their own accomplishments.

I would say option number 2, but be sure what you are writing about is actually an obstacle, not a disappointment. This link should be helpful for an OO ps.
