Write both. Sometimes essay topics can be misleading. You may find that one topic is obviously better once you start writing.

Write it and we shall see. My guess is the robbed at gunpoint is going to be a piece of shit. The other could be good, but the way you state it, you seem negative about it. Now is not the time to tell a story about how you grudgingly did the right thing.

Don't be negative about anything. I think the running a family business angle would bring forth your leadership abilities, etc. Try that out first. The robbed at gunpoint thing seems to be contrived since it didn't actually happen to you. Remember that you are writing about yourself, not someone else's story.
