PS about Model UN

Post by LeaLove » Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:50 pm

I am thinking of writing a PS about how Model UN has given me skills it takes to be a lawyer including:

Leadership
Argumentative Skills
Problem Solving
Orator/Communication
Teamwork
Confidence

I plan on studying international and comparative law and I will mention this in the statement as well.

Is this a good Idea for a PS? Opinions?

There is no such thing as a bad PS topic, only a badly-written PS. That said, some topics take a really skilled writer to pull off. (A really good writer could make a PS about sharpening pencils effective.)

This topic sounds like it has the potential to be deadly boring (specifically, if you write it as if you think Model UN is the Most Srs Bzns Evar), but if you can make it interesting and avoid just making it a list of qualities you feel you gained from Model UN, it could work. Work in some anecdotes, use emotions, and tell the reader something about yourself, not just "I did UN and thus learned leadership skills."
