Ignore this user- hypemachine.
IGNORE!!!!!!
He has stolen my personal statement and diversity statement. This website is supposed to be a safe place to swap information and he has taken mine to copy. Please be aware.
What can I do?? Should I contact law schools about this?? I've worked on both for over two months

He's been emailing me after I said that I knew what he was up to. He said, "do what you want because you don't know my real name. I can use what I want."

I'm pretty upset because of the amount of time that I put into my statements. He didn't mention the schools to me, but I mentioned all the schools that I intended on applying to.

OP - Have you submitted a complaint to the mods?
Also, I would contact LSAC. Make sure you saved those e-mails.

maybe a quick addendum to your schools that says something like "in the course of peer reviewing my essays, someone threatened to use my personal statements. In case this happens, I would be happy to provide any independent information to verify that the story in indeed my own"
that sucks, good luck

Thank you. This means a lot.

Yeah, seriously. Here is what you should do:
1. E-mail a TLS moderator and ask how to proceed.
2. Contact LSAC and tell them what happened. Attach copies of the e-mails from the guy/girl who stole it.
Maybe legal action? I dunno.

A search for the user yielded this in his post history:
What are my chances at:
Cardozo
Fordam
Miami U
Brooklyn
U. of Florida
Emory

And a question about whether schools "would know" if he/she checked PR without being PR. seems a sketchy fellow.

I'm not a lawyer but isn't copyright passively vested in the creator? Registration of that copyright is something of a different matter.

HAHA. It's called the internet. Seriously, if you lack that much common sense, wtf will happen to you post law school? I can tell you: Peter Griffin overseeing the e-discovery process of an anti-trust suit. Christ, I would be embarrassed to report this shit to LSAC. Panera is hiring. Cut your loses.

Or just write another personal statement about your TLS matter. I am sure it will be equal in terms of quality to the first. Overcoming hardship is money$
