Campaign Work in PS?

My best example of personal growth, leadership, and all that comes from when I worked as a field organizer for a Democratic campaign. Is it a bad idea to mention that kind of experience? I know talking about politics can alienate reviewers, but can it work if I focus on the work and not the politics?

I think as long as it's well written and concentrates on how your experience facilitated personal growth and leadership you should be fine. Just don't turn it into an op-ed.
