A DS is rarely a huge boost to any application, unless one lived through ethnic cleansing or spent their childhood in an igloo. It is another opportunity to set yourself apart from the crowd, however.

If the idea of the DS annoys you, this tone will probably come out in your writing - so maybe it's better not to worry yourself about it -

Best, Dani

Addenda aren't mandatory-- they serve only as supplemental essays. If you don't want to write it, you don't have to. It's one of the few non-requirements of your applications so don't do it if you don't have to/want to/need to.
