Quality over quantity always.

I have the same question as well. Would a "why Boalt" be appropriate? Someone on this forum told me not to write that, but incorporate it into my PS. It just starts sound kind of long and rambly though. A "Why Boalt" would be way more effective, I feel.

thelawschoolproject wrote:IMO, I'd never write a straight "Why X" essay. I don't see anyway that a person could stand out with an essay like that. You should always try to incorporate why you want to attend somewhere with your PS. At least, that's what I would do. And, if your essay is "rambling" that means you aren't writing a focused and effective essay in general.
Well, I just think that not everyone's personal statements are amenable to suddenly starting to write about why you want to go to Berkeley at the end. Personally, I think that any PS that is more than 3 pages starts to sound long and perhaps, rambly. I just don't get why they want to read such long ones.

I'd say try to lengthen it beyond 2 pages, but it doesn't have to be a full 4 pages. Instead of a "Why B" I'd just add more about "Why B" to the end of the PS if possible, or somehow incorporate it.

Dean Tom specifically mentions how Boalt allows for 4 pages and to take advantage of it... so I would do that.
