Top Law Schools

NYU is my top choice, and I really want to show them I'm interested. I think I have a decent shot right now just looking at my stats, but I really want to make sure I can get in. However, I don't want to apply ED because of scholarships, etc.

Do you think I should write a Why NYU? My reasoning would mainly be based on their pubic interest/human rights opportunities, alumni connections, faculty, and the location. Mostly because of their public interest ethic and opportunities.

Is this worth writing a "Why NYU" or should I incorporate it into my PS somehow, maybe with an extra 2-3 sentences at the end?

Just tailor your ps to them. IME, nyu is a little number-whory anyway - meaning I don't think the ps even really matters that much here

Yep, this. You are definitely in at NYU. Tailored PS is fine. Hell, untailored will get you in too.

All very credited. This past cycle I felt like NYU was the most predictable school out of CCNMVPB. Just make sure you don't sound like an idiot in your PS and I doubt you'll have any issues getting in.

Yeah. If you ED, it's pretty clear to them that they're your first choice. I've never understood the reasoning behind "Why X" essays when EDing to a school.

FWIW (which is probably not much), you should definitely be aware that EDing will likely keep you from getting any $$. You have a chance to get in RD, though it certainly isn't guaranteed. You won't ever hear me trying to convince you that NYU isn't a great school and that you shouldn't ED. But, if you would take MVP with 50k over sticker at NYU, it is at least worth considering applying to NYU RD. I think your chances are definitely greater than 50/50 RD (assuming no retake). Just some random thoughts that I'm sure you've probably considered.

Of course. But I'm aiming for NYC biglaw, and even $50K less debt isn't worth it if it lessens my chances at all--just as the ED/RD thing goes. I'm not getting more than $50K from anyone--and that would probably be UM, which doesn't appeal as much to me. Plus, I have personal preferences for being in New York, even in the short term, since it's where I have a ton of family and I grew up just outside the city. I'm all in on NYU, and I'll add a few lines to the PS, which partly touches on some of those themes.
