Top Law Schools

Average dude who wants BigLaw. I'm brainstorming what to talk about. So far I got:

-Federal clerkship placement vis-a-vis peer schools (not sure what source to find this)
-Specific clinics or programs (emphasize lit heavy ones for MV; corp ones for P)
-Specific Professors that teach in a niche area that relates to some of my WE
-Placement into DC (for V), Chicago (for M), and NYC for P. I have ties to all, so I was thinking of expressing market preference and placement for each one.
-Other topics people using hit on in why X essays?

All the items on this list sound reasonable and appropriate. The more specific you can be, the better.

Is it possible to go for a visit to any of these schools? That would definitely make for good Why MVP material.

Meh, I got to a T14 and a visit isn't really going to give you material that is going to fit into more than two sentences. Most importantly, any information you would glean from a visit is readily available to you already. Visit if you want to show that you really want to attend and actually want to visit. Not for help with a "Why X?" My two cents.

I think your topics are fine. Though I think the specific Professors and placement ones work best. They seem to be really indvidualized to you - since they relate to your WE and you have ties to those areas. My advice is given with the caveat that while I wrote "Why X's?" I didn't for the school I ultimately attended in that range.

For M, talk about public service.

Just saying...the vast majority of our students have done public service or want to. I'd talk about something I did public service'y (even not law related) and work that into a Why M. Dean Z is looking for a certain kind of person...not someone who's interested in landing in Chicago.

A proper Why X should be about why you want to go there and how you'll contribute. Not just what you want.

or is it all on the website in regards to prof/clerk,/ focus
