I just want to explain the grade trend. I can't exactly explain how I remedied the situation. He got older, I saved more money. It just required time.

This is a risky statement. I probably would not include this.

Since this topic is being discussed, would it be ill advised to have an addendum to explain a gpa trend(upwards) from switching majors?

why did you change majors? because you ddint like the first one, or in an attempt to better your chances at law school admissions? I personally would not write one, because adcomms can see the differences in difficulty of the classes you took.

Well, because my grades were suffering in engineering, and I was working. That's why I switched, and the switch showed a drastic change in grades.

But if you think it may be a bad idea, I may opt to not put it in.

i dont think its a good enough reason to write it. the admissions people will see your transcripts and realize that you changed majors. They wont know the reason why you switched ( maybe figured you didnt like it, or see your grades, and if they were really bad- see that you were about to flunk out and realized you couldnt do it), and will understand that the majority of college kids switch majors. If you start to give a reason for why you did- especially if you were working, then they may start asking questions- which you dont want them to do.
