For a 500 word limit is it OK to go a little(10-15 words over) or would this damage a application

Probably wouldn't damage it, but you shouldn't risk it. Just cut down some articles and rephrase more efficiently - I'm sure it can be done.

Somewhere here (
http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... fault.aspx), Yale Dean Asha mentions effectively why a law applicant should never exceed a word limit. This was referring to Yale's 250 word essay.

See how many times you can remove the word "that." Also make sure that your word counter isn't counting anything that is part of your name or closing at the end. Are your title, name, LSAC ID, page number, etc. in a header/footer or are they being counted too?
