If I write on an academic subjects (such as a research that I did), would I need to provide citations? If so, how would I cite stuff without having in-text citations to take up 50 words?

They already know that you are smart; the Yale 250 probably wants to see if you can express your thoughts clearly in a concise manner. Good lawyers need to be able to relate to all types of people--not just to professors & judges.

What would you need to cite? Your essay should explain the concepts of your research, not state the exact experimental results that you achieved.

My research had two parts: a theoretical part and a case study part. The theoretical part was partly built upon other researchers’ work.

What would you need to cite? Your essay should explain the concepts of your research, not state the exact experimental results that you achieved.

Write it like a popular science snippet (like something you would find in Popular Science or Discover). Don't worry about the citations. [1]
