Top Law Schools

So I just realized the standard typeface I use is Garamond 12 pt. When I changed to Times New Roman, my essay went from exactly two pages (dbl spaced, 1 inch margins---which BTW was changed from the default .79") to +3 lines.

is there a question somewhere there?

or did you find five dollars?

While that may be true, he's still right. You should've used a normal font in the first place-not that the person reading your essay gives a shit what font you use.

do ctrl F, click advanced, type a period in the find box and a period in the replace box, and make word replace all your periods with size 8 periods. do the same for commas and spaces. it'll fit into two pages.

I seriously doubt this...unless a change moves the end of a paragraph up a line I;m not sure about this...also your essay would look really weird if all the punctuation was bite sized

I used Calibri, which is the default for my version of Word. I don't suspect that it has hurt me so far.

Just always use Times New Roman 12. Seriously. Always. Yeah, people might not care, but why take the chance when it is just so easy to use Times New Roman 12?

And yes, I've had people (teachers, workplaces, etc.) be like "lol Calibri." Just use TNR 12.

It's such an ugly font compared to Garamond, oh well

Also Calibri takes up more space so I switched my PS to it when I got tired of writing it.

The only school I remember hearing about a specific font and size was UCLA. Other than them, 11 pt font should be fine and any professional looking font as well. So if you're paranoid and want to use TNR, then drop it to 11 pt. FWIW, I used Garamond, 11pt for my PS as did one of my friends. Don't let Douchey McGee up there scare you about not using TNR. As long as your PS follows the school's guidelines, i.e. if it's restricted to two pages or no less than 11 pt font or 12 pt font, or if it specifies a font, then you're fine. Just did a quick check of my PS: changing to 12 pt TNR would make me have to eliminate over 200 words.

Also, I might suggest searching "garamond" in the forum search and finding posts of everyone saying it's fine.
