Its v. It's error

I just realized I made a mistake on some applications I turned in a few weeks ago.

Error: This organization is making it's influence known to...
Should be: This organization is making its influence known to...

How fatal is this error? Any thoughts?

I made a similar error on my personal statement. I used the word 'professor' in the pural when I meant to use it in the possessive (I left out the damn apostrophe). I got in anyway.

Anyway, I think it depends where you apply. Were these applications for T14? Are your numbers good enough to justify a little error?

Numbers good enough or not, I cannot imagine an instance where someone would read that (had they actually even caught it) and think, "Well this guy's definitely not good enough for us."

You're fine.
