My life has been super boring and I have nothing to write about. I want to finish by today, start applying, and so I can study for the retake.

Anyone have this problem? how did you get going? should I just lie and said I had depression or some crap like that?

dont lie. it will be super hard to be covincing.

there has to be something remarkable in your life. Why law school? What made you decide this path? is there a remarkable teacher in your life? have you always wanted to be a lawyerr? what does law mean to you?

just start jotting down ideas. dont rush this.

Honest answer: always wanted to be a police officer, parents hated it, really wanted me to maximize my potential, changed in college

if not, talk about wanting to become a prosecutor

I mean I don't want to become a cop anymore and I really want to become a lawyer. It's just difficult to explain when I don't have anything interesting to tell why. Do you think it would sound horrible if I actually used that as a topic?

Haha this made me laugh because I feel the exact same way. No idea what to write about or where to start. I have started four different PS and have not been able to get passed the first paragraph on any of them. Anyway, I'm sorry I am no help but I am in the same position as you as I want to send out this first app on Monday!

it's good to see I'm not alone. you got me beat though, I can only get an intro sentence

You don't need to have major childhood trauma, have grown up in Compton or be a decorated war veteran to write a halfway interesting PS. Mine mentions snowboarding, ice hockey, and growing up reading issues of Greenpeace Quarterly in the bathroom, and relates it all to finding something you have a passion for and my goal of practicing environmental law. No death, abuse, depression or poverty required.

Just pound out random paragraphs about 'why I want to go to law school,' 'why I'd be good at law school,' and see what works and what doesn't. Then work in something personal to you. Someone told me to write about something that makes me even a tiny bit unique, so I chose my athletic hobbies. They're not terribly unusual, but they are part of what makes me 'me'.

I wouldn't suggest finishing in a day.

Definitely agree. Maybe finish a draft in a day, but it'll need editing.

what specifically caused the change from wanting to be a cop to wanting to be a lawyer?

I also mentioned wanting to be a "cake decorator in space" when I was little. My essay definitely has a little bit of personality showing through the 'I want to be a lawyer!' base fabric.
