I was thinking about writing a DS on a short trip I took to the United Arab Emirates a few years ago and comparing that with when I celebrated Eid with a friend of mine who is actually Muslim and the criticism/comments I received in both situations. Could this work or is it too small a sample since I'm not Muslim and did not endure a lifetime of overcoming obstacles, but merely a few days "seeing life from the other side" type of thing? Completely stupid idea?

it might work. Write a draft and see how it sounds. If its really rough and bad, then forget about it.
