With regard to personal statements...

... do they have to be serious?
My first PS was too clinical, so people told me to make it more personal. My second PS was a variation of the first, only it was depressing and it kind of turned people off. Now I'm considering a completey different approach that is more lighthearted (my passion for listening to and playing music).
Does that sound like an acceptable personal statement?
I understand it doesn't directly connect to the law, but the way I approach to music (analyzing small details, constantly rehearsing, developing unique relationships, etc.) is tangentially related.
