PERFECT. The arguing cliche, the that's when I knew cliche, AND the study abroad cliche all packed together in one neat opening paragraph!

Throw in something about justice and you're pretty much a shoe-in at HYS.

1. I had a really hard life growing up in the affluent suburbs of [insert city here]
2. My parents' divorce changed my life
3. The economy is really bad right now so I thought I'd try out law school
4. I love community service and saving all the poor people who aren't as affluent and culturally developed as me (ug I really really hate the little rich kids who think they are saving the world crap)

this is very weird

I got one.

In March of 2009 i was sitting on my toilet. I feel in. For the next 72 hours I would struggle to survive. My ass submerged in 3 gallons of water hopelessly screaming for help. From this experience I have gaine the strengh, and persistant that demonstrates that I would make a good attorney

I also love personal statements that talk about run ins with the law.

Like:

The sheriff had the cold rifle butt against my forehead. He began to speak and said, "Boy, pull up your pants, and step away from the goat." I had always had a problem with drinking, but in I had hit rock bottem.....

There is one personal statement in the archieves about some one in a feritility clinic and the intro makes it seem like she is shooting drugs in the bathroom of a doctors office.
