has anyone gotten away with this? do you think the adcomms will notice and get pissed?

I wouldn't do it. They review thousands of applications, meaning I am sure they will be able to tell when spacing is off. Furthermore, if they do realize (which I am sure they will) that you tried to pull a fast one, they may be insulted by the fact that you thought they would overlook it. They provide PS guidelines for a reason...follow them!

I would call the schools to see what their requirements are for the margins. Some schools have expectations but just don't list them, assuming the applicant would abide by normal guidelines.

Your PS isn't as good as you think it is. Either learn to edit or have someone else do that for you.

I just got it down to 2 pages. It is difficult to cut down though, when you need to explain your situation fully for the adcomms to understand where you're coming from.

I got an originally 4-page PS down to 2 pages using only margin, font, and spacing reduction. Penn didn't seem to mind.

Not all schools specify double-spaced.

Impact font is the thinnest default font on windows, hint hint.
