acceptable diversity statement?

I'm married to a Chinese woman. Her family can make for some interesting times/good diversity ammunition.

Is this an acceptable focus? I mean, I guess it's not really my background, but rather my extended family. And I remember seeing somewhere that personal statements should not involve love...

Thoughts?

I definitely think you should focus on yourself rather than your extended family; trust me there is something about you that is interesting enough to write a ds about. Also don't be too focused on traditional diversity topics. I wrote mine about my early work experience - growing up on a tobacco farm and working construction throughout high school and college. What would be good is if you have any insights about being in a bi-racial marriage or something. You probably still want to avoid talking about the lovey-dovey parts, someone might vomit on you application and then you'd be screwed. Focus on challenges or things you learned and can bring with you to law school.
