Well, here's my first rough draft. Would appreciate comments on grammar and sentence structure.

I think it is actually pretty good. I think that it might help you, and certainly it won't hurt you. I am busy working on my apps, or I would smooth out some of the grammatical issues - which honestly are not too bad. I will try to get to some of them a little later if no one has chimed in and picked up the slack. One thing that I want to point out, it is immigrate to, while it is emigrate from. You immigrated to the U.S., you emigrated from Mexico. Throw up a post or PM me if you have any specific questions for me.

Out of curiosity why did you choose your moniker "BlackWater88" ? Seems unusual based on your profile shared in your diversity statement & your claim that you still struggle with American culture.

I understand the difference between both, "emigrate" seemed right because I wrote that sentence from the perspective of still being in Mexico, we hadn't yet moved but the idea was there. The last resort was to emigrate to the U.S. from Mexico, no?

I had a friend that trained with Blackwater in Otay Mesa, later became a cop in TJ and was killed a couple of years ago. We had a very close relationship so that's a way of remembering him.

You're the first person to mention it, so I don't think many people saw it the way you do. Looking through the member's list here on TLS there are many usernames that make use of "88", which I'm guessing they use for the same reason I do.

88 can mean hail hitler (8th letter of alphabet being H), it could be the swastika, but it can also mean hugs and kisses or one more than 87.
You can find negative connotation in anything if you look for them.

Sophia.olive could mean the "wisdom" of "Peace"

Or it could mean, all Christianity will get taken over by islam but be patient. Because the Sofia church was converted to Islam and olive trees take a long time to produce fruit.

I am fairly certain that it would still be immigrate to the U.S. from Mexico. If you wanted to use emigrate, it would then be emigrate from Mexico to the U.S.
