Can I get away with .75 inch margins?

One space or two after periods?

Double space paragraphs?

Do the instructions specify the margins or spacing? One or two spaces after periods is acceptable as long as it is uniform throughout.

Of the four apps (from last year) that I have seen, they do not specify margins, or spacing. Just a page length requirement.

One thing I would do is keep it consistent across all your application. So if you go with .75" on your PS and you write a DS... use the same margins there. Only other thing I can think of is print it out, look at it and think--would the adcomm find this readable? is it going to stand out a ton sitting next to other peoples with 1" margins etc etc

Yeah, I went with .75 margins and it wasn't a problem at all (unless the school specifically asks for 1 inch margins). But I agree that you must then make your DS, addendum, etc all the same margins. That way it seems consistent and not like you just tinkered with a single document to make everything fit.

I think 1" margins is fine but 0.75 is getting noticeable. I don't think you want to do anything that makes the adcoms feel like you are cheating the requirements when other people have managed to work within them.

As for paragraphs, I used indents rather than a line break in order to get my PS under 2 pages. While I prefer 2 spaces after a period, I believe 1 is standard and that is what I used.

As someone else mentioned, keep your formatting standard between the different elements of your app.
