Edit: Yes, two pages double-speced or less is a good rule of thumb. Also, check the school's own website and their application to double-check that they don't specify or suggest a length.

The school specific instructions on LSAC generally tell you the length. I would trust that before some non-LSAC website.

Wait, rule of thumb?!?! In the early 1900s it was legal for men to beat their wives, as long as they used a stick no wider than their thumb.
