Is it worth it to mention in my PS that I had a 3.51 over my final 2 years of UG even though I have an overall GPA of 2.82. Does this qualify as an upward trend? I tried to search previous posts but the forum search is under maintenance so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat post.

No, they'll see an upward trend. Don't waste PS space about that, it's not what a PS is supposed to be.

TITCR
Save for an addendum if you do feel the need to mention it.

As stated, this is what addendums are for. But I'd advise only explaining that upward trend if there's a creditable reason for it. If you're just going to say, "I partied the first semester but buckled down after that" I don't think its really going to endear you to the Admissions. Why don't you just post the addendum and then we can critique?

Something like, "Please consider my upward grade trend, as it is more indicitive of my abilities, work ethic, and maturity."
Edit: this was actually meant to be a question for those more experienced TLSers to critique

To be fair, I managed to work it into my PS without my PS being about that. But to do that you would really need the story of how you managed to improve that drastically to be something that would make a good PS in and of itself.
Anyway, hennenr, I do sypmathize with your plight. My second semester in college I had a 2.3, my last 3 semesters were all over 3.5.

Any addendum that seeks to point to a 3.5 as an indicator of academic success is an addendum best left unwritten.
