Why are you telling them this? It seems like you are apologizing for going to school.

Because in another forum, someone mentioned to comment about the excessive years of education. If not necessary or poorly explained, then that's good?

I don't think it's necessary at all but lets see what other people think.

Not only is this a bit rambling, but I don't think it's necessary either.

+1. This is kind of strange and sounds like a mini-PS/addendum combo.

The plural of criterion is criteria.

So, not explanation necessary for taking classes and at times, withdrawing due to finances? The transcript is pretty ugly? My GPA reduced to 3.3 because of these years. So, no need for this type of commentary???

I actually feel not just that it's unnecessary, but that you should definitely not send it in. If you went to grad school for something very different (in the health care field?) I think it would be useful to the adcom to explain the reason for your change of careers in your PS and expanding upon your statement about exposure to law in your current job. But the text above makes you look unfocused and like you are, as stated earlier, apologising for your experience.

That might require an addendum, but don't send the one you wrote. You didn't even address that.

So it's better to be specific? My first copies had specifics and I ended up with this version because my life was really tough and too graphically sad. Supposedly sad isn't good, so was trying to avoid anything depressing.

I agree. Don't be a downer or play the pity card. If you are trying to address a period of your life when your grades dipped, be specific, and address why it doesn't reflect your overall potential. The text you posted above has no resemblance to an addendum that effectively addresses that issue.
