I'm also curious if a plea in abeyance counts as a conviction. (EDIT: Under Utah law, a plea-in-abeyance does not count as a conviction regarding driver records, or the majority of future court cases, but does count as a conviction regarding further DV charges, or when applying for a concealed weapons permit. I think I'm safer being up front about it.)(EDIT 2: see 359 F3d 1347 United States v. Dell - Again, I think I'm safer just being up front)

That wording sounds kinda strange. I think it would be better to just say you were placed on an 18-month probation period. Abstaining sort of sounds like you had to choose to stay from criminal charges for a period.
