Honestly, I haven't decided yet. With the tuition rise forthcoming I don't know that the benefits outweigh the costs of scholarships elsewhere anymore. =(

name is Ethan and I am one of your future classmate. I have visited Las Vegas many times but have staying within the strip area. I'm coming from the So Cali. area.

And ya, I'm going to Boyd too.

I'm torn. Penn State or UNLV? I don't know!

do you guys know when school starts??? i have been trying to get some info on the website but after i sent in the seat deposit, i haven't heard anything else from them.

i know...the calendar was kindof funky. i asked a law prof. the other day, and she said it was the last monday in august. that would make it the 25th. not sure about orientation, etc. but i would guess that will be at least a week before. tick tock!

First day for 1Ls is August 18th. (I visited last weekend & they told me). That's our orientation then classes start shortly thereafter.


EDIT: also, expect the packet containing all relevant info about schedules, & other details in the first week of June.

hmmmm....i was told we wouldnt be receiving track information until mid-july!

i'm always amazed that someone would want to come to UNLV from NY. Wai god wai?

HA, let me count the ways: no snow, fabulous restaurants, shopping, natural beauty....the heat (im originally from the Southwest and wanted to go back)...and my little corner of NY state is a hellpit. I like the west better than the east- I find the desert peaceful...

And UNLV has a lot going for it. At ten years old they are moving up the rankings with admirable speed, they have thoroughbred faculty who received their degrees from the top 14, the facilities are a_ma_zing, and I really appreciate when the faculty and admins of a school seem to take a personal interest in individual students- which has been my experience thus far at Boyd.

plus, it's Vegas.

115 degree summers are not my idea of fun weather. Natural beauty hmmm. (i think you mean by this the fact that vegas is probably second only to los angeles in its focus on cosmetic surgery amirite?) There are no cacti in Vegas. You are correct that UNLV has great faculty generally, the facilities are nice i can't really say much about them since i have nothing to compare them too. The downside to a university that is only 10 years old though is of course that there is no alumni base, and almost everyone who graduates is employed in NV so its hard to build a name up for themselves in other states. I'm not trying to be a debbie downer just making sure you are armed with all the facts. As a great philosopher once said, or maybe it was a saturday morning cartoon, knowing is half the battle, g.i. joe? If you have any specific questions feel free to shoot me a pm.
